Trinity MENA Review is now accepting submissions for Vol VI!
All submissions must be made via email to editormenareview@gmail.com
- To be considered for the print copy of the Review (in semester 2) and the MENA Review Special Commendation, which is awarded by Dr Tylor Brand, the deadline is Monday 16th November.
- Submissions will remain open after this deadline and accepted submissions will be published only on our website.
- The publication welcomes a wide range of creative and written submissions, including academic or journalistic essays, poetry, translations, short film reviews, photography, artwork, or other content that offers a contemporary or historical perspective on any aspect of the MENA region.
Suggested submission categories are (but not limited to):
Politics
Media and Literature
Art and Photography
Religion and Identity
History
Guidelines:
- Written submissions should be a maximum of 2,000 words.
- It should include a title, subtitle and the author’s name. For academic submissions, please include an abstract (max 200 words).
- Please submit via Google Doc format only.
- We accept submissions in English, Arabic and Irish. Submissions in Arabic or Irish must be accompanied by an English translation.
- A maximum of 2 images per written piece may be included but they must be submitted via .jpg or .png format and they must be accompanied by the artists/photographer’s name and a short description of the image.
- Sources must be referenced, as per an academic essay. Harvard is the required referencing style. Bibliography must also be included.
- You are also welcome to submit more than one submission.
All submissions must comply with the guidelines outlined above.
The MENA Review Special Commendation may be awarded to a long-form article or essay of considerable distinction. Your work would be printed in the physical journal with a brief explainer of why it was chosen by Dr Tylor Brand.

Please note that The Trinity MENA Review is a publication in Trinity College Dublin, and therefore priority is generally given to submissions from Trinity students, staff and alumni. However, we do encourage submissions from external contributors, which will also be considered for publication. The final decision on what pieces are included in the published issues is an editorial one.
